Beautiful Wretch by thenumber42 Beautiful Wretch by thenumber42
30"x54" acrylic on canvas.

Fun times were had by the artist.

This piece was inspired by the song "Somebody Super Like You" from the Phantom of the Paradise [link] but evolved into something a little more, I think.

Also I couldn't resist throwing in a little glass vial.

You know what I think of this painting already, so I'll compliment the photograph: it captures the painting wonderfully. As well as any photo of a painting could, I guess.

Lovely work, I like your technique. I've only used acrylics for a brief required spat in high school art class, and always admire when people use them right well. (I'm much too impatient to use anything that dries any slower than watercolors... lol)

And, indeed - good photo-capture of the piece, even with a little PS'ing to get the colors right.

Thanks!

Watercolors don't like me. :( I haven't tried my hand at oils yet, even though I have the water-soluble kind. I can't stand the smell. Maybe I'll use some acrylic retardant so I can get a nice smooth look to it.

Aww, lol, can't win them all. Oils are my sister's favorite medium for painting, my little impatient brain just shorts out at the thought of a paint that if layered enough will still be drying over a century later... gah.

Frank Frazetta (RIP) was known to work on an oil painting the night before it was due, and chuck it in the oven for 45 minutes or so and then send it off the next day.

Ah, Frankensexy, you look so much better in person...
Although it was a very good photography attempt by the artist, I must say. Nice lighting.
And oh yes, love the "little glass vial"...
